Lutheran Missionaries were among the first to visit the settlements that cropped up along the trails of Montana. The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod established congregations throughout the state to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to share in the gifts He gives His Church.
Emmaus Lutheran Church was established as a mission to Livingston and Big Timber in 2013 to continue the advance of Christ's Kingdom. Pastor Chad Schopp was called as the missionary at large while the congregation formed. Today, the congregation is served by Pastor Corrigan who was installed in 2025. We have met in various places over the years and now have our own building on Park Street in Livingston.
As a congregation of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, we hold fast to the authentic scriptures as our only source and rule for all matters of doctrine and life. We subscribe to the historical Lutheran Confessions because they agree with the Word of God and confirm the witness of the Church Fathers. Our purpose is to learn the same faith that has been passed down from the Apostles, to live in the same virtues Christians have always practiced, and to teach others to do the same. In Christ, we have joy for today and great hope for the future!
